It's on January 16, 1989 that the first box of CorelDRAW 1.0 left the building in Ottawa, Canada. When the first version was released, it was truly a revolution for the graphics industry, redefining what could be done with a computer. For the first time, graphics users on a PC could create advanced full-color vector graphics and layout, including advanced font handling, and all this in a WYSIWYG application. Yes, I know, WYSIWYG is a terminology that hasn't been used recently as it is something expected, but in 1989, having a truly "What You See Is What You Get" solution for vector graphics on the PC was truly unique.

Over the coming weeks, you will see more activities from Corel to celebrate this milestone... in the mean-time, join me in wishing our favourite graphics suite a very happy birthday!
