Print merge converts my text file data from 2 1/2 (no special char just text) to 2½ 2...how do I turn off it converting my 1/2 to the special character (0189)?

Hi,

We are sending CorelDraw Suite 12 a .txt file with sensitive data in a comma delimited file.  We have a template created that we merge the data into the applicable template fields.

This all works fine with the exception of some text we found translated differently through the merge process.  The text in the data file is typed as 2 1/2 (no special characters).  During the merge process Corel decides or translates the 2 1/2 typed to 2 ½2, which is really strange.  I know that Word and other editors will auto translate the typed 1/2 to the special characters, but we do not want it that way.

How can we toggle this off?

Tests:  I decided to actually send in the text file the special character to see what it would do.  Well it translated the special character (alt + 0189) to some strange symbol that resembled a roman numeral.  Very strange.

I appreciate any help on this issue...

Thanks,
