with a CDR containing ca. 10 MB of PNG graphics in total (say 15 graphics objects, each a bit smaller than 1 MB), I am having save times of 20-30 seconds.
Same result if those graphics are JPEGs of similar size.
Switching off bitmap compression does not seem to change the CDR file size nor the saving speed (ca. 15 MB for PNG version, and 50 MB for the equivalent with JPEG ).
I also checked if choosing no compression from the very start with a fresh CDR file helps - but it doesn't.
Also checked if Color Profile embedding is an issue, but this doesn't affect the results either.
This performance seems a bit too poor for a professional graphics suite (my graphics-handicapped colleagues using Powerpoint for posters are saving faster).
Are there any additional options to try? Please let me know if there are any other details which might be relevant.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. These are scientific diagrams with quite some homogeneous regions, so perhaps this explains why the PNG's are more compact. Still, the first question is still why switching off bitmap compression in the Save options doesn't seem to change the file size nor saving time....
