I want to report my experience installing Corel X6 on windows 10 x64, I think it might help others.
We recently got a new laptop, HP zBook G3, it had win 10 pre-installed. Everything works fine except Corel X6 won't install. The installer window shows up and it gets stuck to Initializing installation.
I contacted Customer Support, what a waste of time. They told me "Corel X6 is not compatible with Windows 10, just get the newer version".
After weeks of research I found a solution.
Create a new user, log into it, and run the installation. On this laptop with a fast ssd drive it took less than 1 minute. Done. Then I continue working with my old user.
Compatibility issues? zero.
Competence and helpfulness of the Corel Customer Service? zero.
If you see the menu bar completely white you need to install all the updates.
Note: Corel checks for updates, and you can download them too. But after downloading you'll need to log in with the new user to be able to install it.
I'm sure a Corel could issue a patch for this, but maybe they're too busy upselling their clients...
