CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 Desktop Shortcuts icon puzzle

I have just installed CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 and created Desktop Icons for CorelDraw and Corel PhotoPaint.  So far so good...

As I do not like the capital letters automatically created, I "renamed" the files with lower case letters, the problem was then that the Icon changed to the blank white rectangle containing a smaller rectangle with a series of coloured dots inside it. This also affected the Icon displayed for Corel Draw in the Start Menu!

Unlike other desktop Icons, it is not possible, to select "Change Icon" and reset the correct image as this option is greyed out.

Is this a "bug"?

As this happened with a new install, I re-installed to get things back to normal and now hesitate to rename the desktop icons in case it happens again ...

It's not a bug. A lot of software is like this now. The auto-created icon is targeting a folder, i.e. it is not a direct shortcut to the .exe file itself. There is a workaround, however.

Go into the Program files CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 Programs folder, right-click on the CorelDRW.exe file, point to Send to in the context menu and choose "Desktop (create shortcut)."  Now you have a direct shortcut and can use the change icon and rename it however you like.
