My post Why does Corel Draw Graphics Suite X5 feel more like beta software? explains everything im having an issue with X5. In an effort to log the issues with this software, Im asking that if your an X5 User and are having file corruption, crashes, freezes and other such fun stuff happening to you killing your time and money while in Draw or Photopaint, please post it here.
In order to keep it all clean and easy for someone at Corel to follow, please only list issues for X5 and not turn it into a discussion out of topic.
Please, there is no need to try to defend Corel here as Iv used Corel since version 4 (not X4), so thats a long time using it.
Already exists a post with a list of wishes for a service pack, you don't need to create other, is better to post all on the same list
This is not a wish list. Its pretty obvious that it is not as the word wish was never used and is a Bug Report. Your posts Ariel are not a help.
Pleas list any issues in this post. Thank you.
This to unify everything. If people post there bugs into a thread, it acts as a database of issues that can be sent to Corel. It also helps people to look out for an issue or another person reading can say yes! I have that same issue. This is a good way that works as Iv seen it work great before more then once for other software. Ultimately its up to Corel to step up and correct the problems quicker. I titled this thread the way I did because as another message, quality control and better testing before release is needed. The more people speak up who are users of the software and especially people like myself who have been using Corel for a very long which seems to be many who have posted.
The idea is to take all issues posted and filter out say messages like this and sending it to Corel. This way they can say, ok...X amount of people have been seeing corruption, or freezes or what ever other issue. Singular submissions to any company can look more like isolated problems or not as important at first view. A list of people having the same would be a better way to send a message.
Hi.
Same as x4.
When starting x5 if mouse is over a button, that button gets pressed. Same when opening a blank document.

X5 shuts down on me many times during every work session. Sometimes when I am changing fonts, sometimes when editing bitmaps, sometimes when importing bitmaps, sometimes when applying a transparency. Bang - just shuts down. I can have Corelpaint open editing a bitmap and CD closes underneath it. I can open window to import a file and CD closes as I search the thumbnails. It closes when I click the change page tab.
Doesn't seem to be any specific act or function that closes it - it just shuts down. Gone.
No warning. I lose everything since the previous save. Half the time the working file is corrupted, too, so I can't even restore it. I have to keep numerous versions on disk and use save-as with every save to keep just one alive.
Same exact issue with me. I've used X4 (and other earlier versions) with relatively good functionality. X5 is crashing so much and seemingly so randomly it's maddening at best. The time wasted from lost work, and now trying to find an answer, is setting me so far behind I could scream. I can't believe this is so difficult to address.
Issue(s): CRASHES AT LEAST ONCE DURING EACH WORK SESSION
Solution(s): The old adage "Save early. Save often." has never rang so true as it does with this release. Get used to clicking "Save" after each action (assuming you're lucky enough to open the document) - make it an autopilot response... and pray you weren't distractedly productive enough to forget!

If all users have the same program, and some people have problems everyday but most people works fine everyday withouth crashes or other issues... what's the difference? since it's not the computer, I believe is the operating system, or, in other words, how you configure your operating system.
I can say this. Iv tested the X5 issues in Windows 7 64bit, XP SP3 and Vista 32bit on 3 different computers ranging from AMD Athlon64 to Intel Core i7. Same issues without fail. Same crashes and corruptions. 80% of my issues have been with Photopaint so far.
Your Theory is broken for this reason. For many the problems may not exist or crop up all the time since they may not use the programs the same way day to day. They may not use the same tools, open a file, or do the same things that will cause Corel Draw or Photopaint to crash. In my case, I always use the programs the same way and same tools on a daily basis and so they show their faults nearly right away for me. I can crash Photopaint pretty consistently doing not much at all. The same issues show themselves across a variety of setups.

It's called a bug. CorelDraw X5 is the ONLY app that regularly, without fail crashes every session out of the dozens I use, several of them every day - for hours. I'm guessing that chasing down an OS config issue with Microsoft tech support for this isolated new CD X5 release issue would be very unproductive.
Also, for every one of us that takes the time to sign up and speak out about an issue, there are dozens, if not hundreds of other users with the same issue who just deal, and dozens, if not hundreds more who quietly search these threads looking for an answer, and wander elsewhere when they don't find it.
Corel wants me to call AND PAY their tech support to resolve this issue. If I should do that, I will post the resolution.

Although I believe that there was a bug in the download install version, I'm fine now after a repair. I'll also note, that I believe the slower, older computers are having less problems than the newer upgraded ones. I don't know if it is a windows version issue or a processor/multi-processor issue, but that is what I "feel" I have seen on these boards. We're running refurbished IBM's from tigerdirect with Windows XP and I am now finding very few issues that can't be resolved.
Yesterday, I helped other user to install Windows 7 Ultimate from zero, then install CorelDRAW X5 (the spanish Trial version) and other programs of course. Nothing happens, no crashes, no errors, all old Corel file open and works fine. So,if it's a bug of the program, everytime you install CorelDRAW must have the same issues, and all people must have the same problems. I know, several people have problems, but not all people. And not all people have the same problems... if you read the forum, some people cant´t install, other people can install but can't save, other people can install and can save, but the program is slow; other people has not problem to install, save or work, has not problem with the speed but the program crashes sometimes... I remember two years ago: some people say the same about X4,
As I said before. My main issues have been with Photopaint. Not everyone uses the same tools in Photopaint. So some may Never see the same issues just because they use Photopaint to say, correct color or crop things down. I use Photopaint pretty much for all it can do. I get the same errors clean install or not. I tested this to be the issue under 7 on two different systems with a fresh install originally. That meant with all windows & updates, all driver updates and No other software installed but Corel X5. But Im having the exact same issues on a XP machine a Vista Machine and Windows 7 64 Bit machine. The exact same issues. So how could this be a configuration problem?
See, Some of my files have corrupted just saving them. No other program suffers this issue. I Use my machine also for Cinema 4D Studio and After Effects. Again your theory is flawed. Not everyone is saving the same things. Not everyone is using the same files. Not everyone is using the same tools. Not everyone is working with the same images. So no, not everyone is going to have the same issue all the time, but many have been having the exact same issue with a few things.
X5 is the only app I get out of memory issues even 10 minutes into a project. In fact I dont get out of memory issues with any app but Corel X5 on any computer I own. Plenty of Physical and virtual memory to be used on every machine.
Personally, I'm a certified computer tech and had my own business building and repairing computers for years. I specialized in liquid cooled computer systems. Of the hundreds of computers that I built or repaired, installed software or used software on. X5 has been one of the bulgiest Iv used in many years. why there are so many people so quick to downplay the issues is beyond me. Things are wrong, need to be fixed and stating the issue is one way of having the issue resolved.
