Cannot run CorelDRAW 12 SP1 Update (.msp) in Windows 7

CorelDRAW 12 successfully installed on a new machine running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit; however, when attempting to run the SP1 patch (CGS12SP1EN.msp), I get the following message:

"The wizard was interrupted before CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 could be completely installed."

I have tried the suggestion by rmacmurchie in the post "Corel Draw 12 and vista" which attempted to run the Microsoft installer through the command prompt running under Administrator, but it doesn't work.

Does anyone have a solution?

  • I can help on this. I can't remember where I came across this but it's hats off to whoever posted it:

    * Put the SP1 update into a folder called sp1 and copy this folder directly to the C: drive (C:\SP1)

    * Open a new text file, paste the following line in it and save:

    * msiexec /p c:\SP1\CGS12SP1LMP.msp

    * Rename the text file to sp1.cmd

    * Put the file in the sp1 folder

    * Right-click on the .cmd file and choose 'Run as Administrator'.

    * This should run the command with the right permissions and install the Service Pack.

    You could alter the path written in the line to where the service pack is located but perhaps simpler to keep the line as it is and move the service pack to it.
