Why would I need Ghost script installed? Many people say it resolves some problems with post script in Corel Draw. Is this true?
Also why I can't even see EPS extension file format on the list when I try to import something? Is it again because I need to install something extra? (it's a new machine)
Also it's a shame that saving optimised PDF from Adobe Acrobat and ticking 'Make compatible with Illustrator 8+' is not helping with PDF import (CS5 file not outlined shows messed letters in Corel x5, most probably because of some new letter space effect in Illustrator CS5).

It helps when you import a postscript file (PS, EPS.. ) for a better interpretation of the contents.

You must select the file formats when you install the program, and you can add more if you insert your DVD and choose a custom installation.

Try PDF X/3 or X/1a for better compatibility, Also, you can Export as Postscript file (PS) with Acrobat or save as EPS.
Thanks very much for all confirmations.

You mean Corel X5? Didn't know that I need to choose which files I want Corel to support?
I mean it doesn't matter because files can be opened as default without specifying the actual format but I simply don't have EPS on the long list of formats when I open the import dialog box (X5 trial version).

Yes, same as older versions.

Yes, you can open it because the program will read the file and convert to CDR file format, but is not in the import list
Ghostscript is useful as a RIP for printing images that contain halftones. I use it all the time for this purpose for making screen films. I've also used it for opening EPS files that won't import properly into Draw for whatever reason. many times you can resave the file as an EPS ith a new name and it gets rid of the glitch.
You need to download both Ghostscript and Ghostview. Ghostscript its the RIP and Ghostview is the program you use to view and print the files.

The Ghostscript application included with CorelDRAW X5 is for a better interpretation of postscript files when you import it, but it doesn't includes the full Ghostscrip program for printing and doesn't have all the same options

I just found out today that Ghostscript is included with X5. I've been using Ghostscript for years as a RIP...and I'm still using Draw X3. Ghostscript is a very solid program, and I'm glad to hear about this.
