I wish to ungroup the drop shadow effect from the object I have created, however the option is greyed out when right clicking in the objects docker. How can I do this?
Check your Status Bar, Theresia.
It sounds like your selecting the control object instead of the drop shadow group.
I don't see much in the status bar. I'm selecting the object in the objects docker and right clicking. How else would I select the object that has the drop shadow applied?
Might have to "Break drop shadow group apart" first.

sorry for the confusion, I think the guys here think they are in the CorelDraw forum rather than the Photo-Paint forum!! lol
OK, at first I could not figure out what was happening at your end and then after some playing around I ended up getting the greyed out options for the drop shadow, just like you did. It is simple to bring them back:
Double-click on the drop shadow icon in the Object Docker (small square at the right of the Object name). Now right-click on the NAME of the object and you will find the options are no longer greyed out.
I have no idea what causes them to grey out as I have never seen it happen before. I kept right-clicking different parts of the object in the docker and eventually right-clicking gave me the greyed out options.
