Yes, it's time to think about the next version. Please, try to be specific

For me, the most significant and incomprehensible omission from recent versions is the inability to place a PDF into a CorelDraw document without having it converted it into CorelDraw objects.

Its a particularly annoying omission because:

  • Earlier versions did have this feature
  • The place facility is available for EPS. Placing PDF should work exactly the same way.
  • If you are doing a booklet with adverts, you are likely to be given adverts in the form of ready-to-print PDFs which need no further editing
  • Interpreting PDFs to objects is very error prone and often doesn't work at all.

I think the ability to apply envelope and perspective effects to any object (including images) would be a popular addition.

We have no interest in using X6 since there isn't anything groundbreaking pertaining to our business so I'm not sure if any of these are included.

RecentFilesHistory. The most handy feature that you wouldn't think you would ever use. I am able to keep track of the thousands of files I have opened and where their location is just by typing part of the file name.

Single page CDR save or export.

Scale Display. The ability to constantly change and know what scale your are in on any document.

Replace Bitstream with something that works. I have run into many problems where I can't install or uninstall fonts through Bitstream

A Type layout option such as FlexiSign where I can have lines of type and specify the exact distance between baselines and cap heights. Perfect for directional copy and regulatories.

"selected only" do the same results. Of course, it can be improved, ie "export pages 6 to 8"

Have you seen the new baseline grid of X6?

Haven't seen it. Just read about everything that has been improved and nothing stood out.

Hi.

I haven't upgraded yet either but plan to after sp1 and kinda agree. A bunch of the new things I won't use.

What I do usually like about upgrading however are the little things and fixes that I find, usually the really tiny things, but they sure are nice to have.

X3 was great IMHO. It did everything my employer thought it would and more. Since then we upgraded to X5 which they have been slow to rollout. There have been weird color inconsistencies opening many if not most of all of our old documents where colors are changing or appearing completely different.  Since X3 too nothing has really been improved enough to warrant changing everyone over.  X5 is also incredibly buggy. Even with SP3 I have a crash at least several times a day.

in CD "Text Hinting" that restricts Anti-aliase for small text object exporting to bitmap or viewing in Pixels mode.
In PP Anit-aliase might be fully restricted for text.
