I am a relatively new user to Corel Draw X5. I have been trying to develop a font the has a black outline, a red fill in the middle and a thin white line between the black and red. The font I'm using is Gils Sans Ultra Bold. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave
Can you clarify your question a little? Do you really need to "develop a font," Dave?
Or is it enough to create the logo based on Gill Sans and dress it up from there?
If you only need it for a logo, it probably doesn't need to be type at all. Understanding what you really want to do would help us to help you.
Thanks for the replies. I'll try to be a little clearer. I'm trying to use the Gils Sans Ultra Bold font to match an old logo. This font isnt exactly the same but close enough. My main problem is trying to learn how to have a dual outline of black and white with the center fill of red. The older font I'm trying to match was created in AI. The goal is for a thin black outline with a thin white outline inside the balck then the fill. Hope this helps.
Hello Again deigel; if you can post the old logo here we can take a look for you. Keep in mind when you make a logo make it so it can be used on more than just a sheet of paper. Doors, Windows, Vehicles, ect. ) If it's to big to post you can email it and tell me what you want and I'll try and give it a wack for you.

Try using the Contour tool. Add 2 steps to the outside, using width of your choice. Break contour apart, ungroup all. Color the lower most black, the second white. Result will look something like this:
Note, that depending on your text or the look you want, you may need to add more space between the letters.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're basically trying to recreate a logo, not create a whole new typeface. In other words, you have no plans to type a letter or anything else, you just want the logo and it started with type, right?
The reason I ask is, creating a font is a fairly involved thing, although you can certainly do it in CorelDraw. (Not sure you can achieve 3 colors in one taypeface, though.) Recreating a logo is fairly straightforward, and can have as many parts and colors as you like. It will look like type, it just won't be type. In fact, that's the way most logos are done -
Can you post a copy of the logo here so we can give you instructions on how to? Or if I've completely misunderstood you, just say so, that's ok too. :)
PS - Since you say the original was created in AI, have you tried simply importing it?
