I have Corel X5. I am designing graphics for sublimation printing. some of the graphics as seen in the program are not printing the same is what I see on screen. For instance I did a power clip process and it looks great on screen but the print preview does not reflect the graphic as seen in the program. The power clip is no longer clipped to the design. In another instance I used a fountain fill on design, the design looks great on screen and in the print preview but when printed doesn't look at all like what I designed on screen. I can send print screens of the two examples I am referring to if someone cares to help out with this.
Most of my graphics are printing fine, its just when I have applied some special techniques that I am having problems. Is due to layers possibly?....
Thanks in advance
Could you please post the print screens with the problem examples? If you can share your original CDR document ( may be simplified a bit to show problematic area) this would help too. What printer and printer driver are you using - particularly do you use PostScript or non-Postscript driver? Thank you.
I use an epson 7510 printer I don't know about the diver, where do i look for that? Thank you,
Deborah
Well none of these things worked. any other ideas?
Interesting... How exactly do you print to your Epson? Is it directly to Epson driver or via some sublimation virtual driver (e.g. Sawgrass)? Could you please share your CDR document?
I am really interested in finding out the resolution for this original query ... was it a fault in Corel x5 etc ?
I have had similar problems in the past (our design was no where near as complex though!) and we also do not print directly to our Epson 11880 printer. We couldn't get a result so we changed the design! - wish I had been a member on here at that time !
I find this forum excellent, with loads of friendly members who are willing to share their knowledge :)
Hi Sammi,
The problem is on Draw side - we do not handle some complex clipping paths ( e.g. PowerClip with a curve applied to gradient or pattern fill) correctly - fills are not contained. I am going to look into this bug farther, so far it appears the problem is not caused by the curve complexity itself, as some equally complex clipping paths work fine.
Normally I would suggest just to use "Print as bitmap" option in our Print dialog, but that doesn't work either. Apparently most of our output workflow's are affected - print preview, printing and publish to PDF, only display path doesn't have this problem.
The workaround solution is to rasterize the graphics in the Draw at high resolution ( e.g. 300/600/1200 DPI) and only then print it.
In my tests I could also resolve this issue by going to Tools/Options/Global/Printing/Driver Compatibility, selecting printer, and checking "Use software clipping for fills" box ( you need to do it only once). This, however, did not work for Deborah at all, so there is something else going on and I do not think this solution will work for everybody.
Either converting vector graphics to bitmap in the app, or doing what Steve is suggesting - converting clipping path to bitmap mask - are the only workarounds that will work for sure.

Thanks for that Gennady
