Is there any want to retain the clipping paths from certain stock photos (or any images which include paths) within either CorelDraw or Photo-Paint? Sure I can create my own or use the cutout tool, but sometimes it's nice to simply use what's already there. Just curious...
Thanks,Addison
What format are the stock photos currently? And is there a freely available example for testing?
In photopaint, you should be able to retain clipping paths by saving in .CPT format.
Most of the photos in question are objects with clipping paths from iStockPhoto, and I'm sure they're Photoshop JPEGs. But I'm really just curious overall regarding compatibility. Seems a shame that something as tedious and time-consuming as clipping paths can't "transfer" to Photo-Paint from Photoshop (and vice-versa), or even CorelDraw. The only other program that I've used that manages to keep the paths is PhotoLine (www.pl32.com).
I've attached an example, but remember that this is purchased from iStockPhoto -- please don't use it anywhere else.
The problem is that the file was saved in jpg format. The jpg format is not intended to support clipping paths so photoshop is doing something unusual. Consequently, other programs don't see the non-standard clipping path.
If you have photoshop, then perhaps you can try saving in a format that is intended to support clipping path. I think TIF is probably one that does.
More intelligent would be for shutterstock to also offer images with clipping paths in a proper format.

Currently not, but I'll let Corel know about this idea.
Thanks for the input, guys.
