try again - IE didnt post question ...
Using xls spreadsheet for data merge
Contains text and numeric fields;
The numeric data is merging with trailing .00
ie 1 is merging as 1.0 20 is merging as 20.00000
XLS formatting for the numbers was general - also tried - number with decimal places set to 0
thanks
Try formatting the cell as required in Excel. Then export the Excel file to .CSV format or .TXT (Tab Delimited) format and use it to merge the data.
thanks = yes have tried the formatting both xls and csv files give the trailing .000s
Trailing 00's are the result of formatting of cells set in Excel. Check the settings in Excel under Format > Cells > Numbers and remove the settings for trailing 0's and then save the file to use it in DRAW.

Thanks but as above
Format in excel - is correct - no decimal places
but all numbers merged leave varying trailing .00 ie some are 0 others are .00000
It sounds like what is needed is for the numeric fields to be treated simply as text. This is also a formatting setting in Excel. The end result should be that in the delimited file the numbers are enclosed in quotes.
Hope it helps
text works - any numeric formatting does not... Go figure
Use merge alot not had this issue before.
Many thanks for the help
Glad you got it working.
