I Created 28 page Booklet style Document over a period of a week. All the time working and saving. When returning to document, it now does not open, neither does the back-up. No warnings, messages, nothing. Just won't open, creates & goes to "Graphics1" file instead. Calls to so called Corel Tech Support resulted in emailed "Recovering Lost Documents" Guidelines which essentially state "better have a back-up". The phone conversation and subsequent email suggest "we don't care".
I only have experience with Adobe Tech Support so this is what I'm using as a standard. No comparison in level of help. First hand experience in 2 separate issues with Corel tells me if you have a problem , you're on your own.
Now that we've lost all that work and now must recreate it, I'm thinking, certainly not on Corel after this.
Anyone have any similar experience or suggestions?
I seriously suggest that Corel look at its Customer Service.
I guess you tried to open the backup file that is created every time you save your document?
You might want to try importing the document vs opening it.
Also, regarding your comment about customer service, I will contact you separately to follow-up.

Hi Grimie, sometimes bad Color Management Settings cause these sort of problems, try to reset ur color management to default or Optimized for professional output, then try to see if that helps you open ur file.
I have this problem too, what a mess loads of files lost. It's been OK before, I have tried importing, and the images are just line drawings. This may be the end for me, Corel user from Corel 3, I am going to buy Affinity design and see what that has to offer. With regard to Corel support, my opinion is don't bother, they are less than useless. It has been that way for a long time.Very disappointed.
The first point is to know why the file doesn't open. if it was a fail while the file was saving, or while the file was compressed, you should have a backup file or you can copy the CDR file and rename as ZIP, then open with Winzip pr similar. Sometimes it's enough to use a higher version to open it. If you want, feel free to send me the file to ariel.garaza@ail.com and I try to recover it.
