Hi,
I've have this problem for months. The problem persists constantly when my file exceeds 10-15 Mb which is not that much. It sometimes show me a message <Out of Memory> or some other messages about low memory.
I'm with Windows 7, Corel Draw 12, RAM 3 GB. I have about 19 GB free space on the hard disk of my laptop.
My temp folder is almost empty. The Corel options for memory is put on 50% to be used it was 25% by default.
Yesterday I changed my virtual memory settings by checking custom size and 4593 MB for both the initial and maximum size. Yes, I reboot my laptop. Now, I open this window for the virtual memory and for some reason the custom size is disabled and System managed size is checked.
Anyway, my work on a big project is blocked.
Can someone give me a tip?
Hello mrblond; Also to add to what is said above, if you are running the 32 bit system the 3 gig of ram is all Windows will use, but if you are using the 64 bit system you are 1 gig short of the min. amount Windows wants to work with. And a 10 m. file is a large graphics file.
George
Well, since yesterday I'm with 6 GB of RAM. As if the performance now is much better and I start working with confidence.
But, at once a message <Out of memory> appeared again. After the message I can only close the file without saving. After this operation the file is corrupt and when I open it, it is empty.

This is not longer valid. it works for older Windows versions, but Windows 7 doesn't allows other programs to manage system memory. (btw why only 50%? That means to use only half of the free memory, after start Windows and the programs that start with Windows -such as antivirus, network and devices managers, etc- the free memory is only a part of the total RAM)

4 GB of Virtual Memory is not enough for work with CoreelDRAW. I use at least 20 Gb (min) of Virtual memory, 60 Gb max. Using 4 Gb is good for the common use of any computer (internet, facebook, skype, office...) fir not for large drawings.
Remember that 10 / 15 Mb file size is the size after compress file. When you open the file, the uncompressed file is bigger (perhaps 80 / 100 Mb) and also there's a lot of temp files (ie all steps for undo/redo). For this reason is very important to clean up the computer fequently.

How do you use 6 Gb of RAM? The first question is about the amount, usually the RAM comes with sizes that are 1 Gb, 2 Gb, 4 Gb, 8 Gb, etc and it advised to use pairs of the same size. ie for have 4 Gb you need one chip of 4 Gb or 2 chips of 2Gb. 6 Gb RAM requires two different size (ie 4 and 2 Gb) and this is not good.
The second question is about your Windows. The 32 bits version of WIndows can't read more than 3.2 Gb of RAM, no matter if you have 4 Gb, 6 or 8. And also, it allows only up to 2 Gb for each program. So, you need to have Windows 64 bit for use 6 Gb of RAM, but CorelDRAW 12 was a 32 bits software. so it can't use more than 2 Gb, since Windows 64 bits will limit the memory usage up to 2 Gb For use more memory, you will need to have CorelDRAW X6 for 64 bits.
Thanks Sir....
