Hi,
With the Roland versaworks software, I have a "userinks" file that I would like to import and save in draw and paint.
I m able to import it but not to save it as a "user range color" that I could see in the user range color selector mesage box of the surface or contour.
I tried many ways to remplace the defaut "userinks" files by roland "userinks" :
- open roland userinks in range editor
- remplace defaut userinks file by roland userinks file C:\Documents and Settings\Man\Application Data\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Custom Data\Palettes.
but when I close draw, the defaut userinks always come back and remplace the roland file...
I m working with XP SP3 with admin right...
Before to close draw I saved as default parameter... But it s always the same problem...
Does anyone know what to do ?
Thanks.
Emmanuel
Hi.
Ok I found out how to add Roland versaworks in the custom spot color, just by clicling on "add color" in the range color editor, then by chosing the roland file...
Now, I m facing the same problem as many other : I can't see the color on an object vith the enhanced view or the next one...
Hope it's going to be fix by Corel...

The only way to make CorelDraw recognize and handle custom spot colors correctly, is to save them in the Custom Spot Colors palette (userinks.cpl).It is stored in these folders (X4):
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ <username> \Application Data\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Custom Data\Palettes
Vista: C:\Users\ <username> \AppData\Roaming\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Custom Data\Palettes
Hi Ronny,
Thank you for your answer.
I have already done that, like it is mentionned in other posts about userinks but I can see the colors on the screen only if I use the "regular view" in the display mode.
With the "enhanced" mode or "with overprint" mode (I don't know if my translation is correct...) it doesn't work : the objects appear as white...
Is there a solution for that ?
It's a major work-around but there is a macro in Corel to make color swatches using a color palette. Run the macro using the Roland color palette and you'll be left with multiple pages of color swatches. Copy and paste each page into a new document (consolidating all the colors onto one page). Export your page to an EPS. In the EPS dialog under the ADVANCED tab, check the "convert spot colors to process" option.
Now open your exported EPS. You should be able to see all the colors in any view mode (except wireframe modes of course). Go to WINDOWS-COLOR PALETTES-CREATE PALETTE FROM DOCUMENT. Now save your palette somewhere to your hard drive so you can reload it later if needed. Your new palette should load automatically. This method preserves the color names but strips the "spot color" info. Now your colors are simple named CMYK colors. It's a lot of work so I'm attaching the final color palette ready to load but I thought it would be useful to explain the steps for future reference.
Hi Madelion (and Ronny)
Just last week I stumbled across a way to make it work, through VBA. Then CutContour shows as a color (red in my case) in enhanced modes. It also shows up properly on the Status Bar as 100% CutContour.
We have a commercial weedborder macro that allows you to choose the color of the borders it generates here.
it was quite a surprise to see this Custom Spot color issue finally work in X4! Since.. it means one can close the Custom Spot palette, it's not really needed.
We can probably make a separate small utility to force any outline to a CutContour ink, and at hairline, that's it. Because this specific issue drives many people bananas. IMO the Custom spot palette should NOT have to be open in order for CutContour inks to show in enhanced modes.
