Backslash in CorelDraw Print-merge - Print Merge Wizard_2014-06-25_11-33-23.jpg (0/1)

Hi all,

I'm appealing to the gurus in house.

I followed the instructions in the Coreldraw help.

I created a file of names and addresses.
The first 2 lines of the file are:

3
\Last\\First\\Address\

I have tried .txt and .rtf formats.

When I go to create the fields and open the file I get a popup saying:

Wrong file format or could not open.

If I take out the first line and resave the file, it opens the file, but treats it as
one field, backslashes and all. See included screen print.

I've done print merge with .csv files that worked fine, but this data has imbedded
commas so I thought I would try this method.

So what gives. Are the documented instructions correct?
Is backslash the true delimiter?
Is this actually the required format?
Is there somewhere in the product that I have to tell it to use the backslash?

  • Don't anyone spend any time on this.

Just realized my errors (yes, more than one)
Single backslashes between the data fields.
Also when converted from .odt format a soft return in the address was converted to a
    hard return (paragraph).
So my data records bore no resemblance to the format expected.

Have a good day.. Or at least a better one than me.
