When I want to open Corel Designer X6 (64 it) I have a message Error 38. I have window 7 professional on a Lenovo thinkpad . What is the procedure to fix this?
Hello Sylvie,
sounds like a corrupted installation of CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 (there is an important component not found - that's what that error is referring to). My colleagues in the Technical Support team suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the product.
Please make sure you have full administrator priviledges when launching the setup (through Control Panel > Software > Uninstall) and also when reinstalling.
Best regards,Klaus.
Good morning Klaus,
I was starting to hyper ventilate...I have never been late presenting drawing to my customers. I am not sure if this could be the cause but I restored the computer to just before a window update and then ask for a repair on CorelDraw. In your opinion do you think it could of been affected by the window update?
Thank you ,
Sylvie
Hello Sylvie
I work for the technical support team at Corel and Klaus has asked me to jump in into this conversation.
Re: "... restored the computer to just before a window update and then ask for a repair on CorelDraw. ..."
Indeed, this explains why the registry key was changed that causes this error 38. Repairing at that stage only repairs CorelDesignerX6, but this isn't the problem. What's the problem is that part before CorelDesignerX6 is installed. I hope that removing/reinstalling CorelDesignerX6 will fix this.
System restore is no good idea in my opinion as Windows restores the registry too, and this often means that we lose program keys.Normally, Windows Installer gets confused when the registry is changed and it can't find its own key.
I hope that when removing/reinstalling CorelDesignerX6 will fix this.
Hello, we are having the same issue at our company. We bought 1 license of CorelDrawX6.1.
We started getting the error 38 a month ago. I thought it might be an update issue.
So, I setup/repaired the installation. It worked for a while.
I got the update and installed it. Worked for a while and now it is posting this error message error 38.
I checked the service that some people had issues with while using CorelDrawX4 and 5.
Protexis Licensing; however, there was nothing wrong with that service and running perfectly.
What other suggestions you may have?
