Straightening a wine label

Hardly infirm. Find me the tool that does absolutely anything that anyone could want.
What one user considers an "obvious" need might not be so obvious or needed to
others.

It would be nice if you could create distortion handles other than the default
corners. That might help. PS. if that can be done then be kind in pointing it out to
me.

As to my issue. I'm first going to try photographing at an angle closer to
perpendicular to the bottle than my first attempts, which should cut down on the
curvature of the top and bottom edges of the label.
That and an increased depth of field may make adjustments much less difficult.

this will sound crazy but if you have a good camera with a lens long enough that there isn't a lot of curvature on a tripod, make a cardboard frame say 1/8 of the label width take pictures by rotating the label behind the frame put index marks on the bottle to establish alignment points. You then manually crop, overlay, blend and then stitch the pictures into one or use a panorama function

We built a jig to do this using 32 steps for a set of 8 inch long labels a few years ago it took a bit of time but worked really well. I'll try and find a file in the archive.

That sounds rather ingenious.
But it might be worth the effort considering removing the labels seems to be
impossible with the Gorilla Glue they seem to be using these days.
