Since downloading X5 trial, I am seeing large numbers of error reports in my application event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Protexis Licensing ServiceEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 49Date: 23/02/2010Time: 17:18:24 (about 20 such entries within a few seconds of this time)User: N/AComputer: UNICORNDescription:Failed to Release Mutex Error ID = Returned Error 288 (or sometimes error 1)
ps -- this is on Windows XP and the same machine also has a full version of X4 in case this is relevant.
I am seeing the same thing on my system, starting at the time I installed the X5 products.
To confirm the origin of these errors, I checked the application log, then started Corel Draw, then stopped it. The application log recorded 20 of these events. The same thing occurred when starting Photopaint (20 application error events).
From what I have read, mutex algorithms (mutex) are used to lock critical sections of code synchronize access to shared resources (lest they step on each other!).
I am wondering if this may the underlying problem behind the crashing I am seeing in PhotoPaint X5, as noted elsewhere in the X5 PhotoPaint forum. Has your Corel X5 application been crashing?
I am running Windows 7 (64 bit) on an Intel quad processor (i7-860) which has the ability to run 8 threads concurrently. System has 4 gb memory, 1 tb disk space spread across 2 hard files. Graphics processor is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 380 with 2 gb graphics memory
Hi All
I also experience the same problem,
Since CorelDRAW X4, Corel started using Protexis Licensing Service for software licence activation and control. I have had previous issues with Protexis which were never resolved, but not as bad as the current issues
I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate (64 Bit) with 8GB of memory, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.40GHZ CPU and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 graphics Card.
In two days my system has recorded over 700 Protexis Licensing Service errors, these ongoing errors start slowing down CorelDRAW as your file gets bigger.
I tried to disable Protexis but then CorelDRAW stops working. This is a total disaster and CorelDRAW will have to correct this URGENTLY.
I contacted CorelDRAW Support on this issue, this is the reply I got from "Joselito" at CorelDRAW:
"Thank you very much for your e-mail.Kindly refer to the link below for a manual reinstallation.http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/764393/p/15%2C492/r_id/166"
Do not waste your time following CorelDRAW's instructions, it WILL NOT resolve the issue.
Come on Corel Support the mere fact that you have suggested the above is acknowledgement that there is an issue with Protexis, but please DO NOT SEND ME ON A WILD GOOSE CHASE!!!
Just to jump in, we've duplicated this error and we're looking into it further.
T.
Let me join the club... I am getting multiple event errors every time I open X5. Annoying. So far, no fix. Working...
