I have been attempting to install CorelCAD on my computer. I have a Dell Dimension 9200C with 4mb of RAM and am running Windows 7 SP1 with dual monitors. My Windows Installer version is 5.0.7601.17514.
The program installs almost to the end, to the point where the desktop icon is in place. When the install window reads registering software, it stops and I get the following message: " There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." At that point the program rolls back the installation.
I've run Microsoft Fix It for uninstall/install with no success. I've tried to register the software first before installation but I receive an error message that the serial number is incorrect or is a legacy program without support.
I can't find anything on the Corel website or the Microsoft website that addresses my problem.
Any suggestions?
Hello mopipari; Try turning of your fire wall, and see if that helps. Are you loading from the web site or a DVD?

Tried that and the results, or lack thereof, are the same. I am installing from a DVD.

Having exect issues & no answer yet. Check the Corel W7 compatible listing & CorelCAD is not in there.
W7 Pro x64 fully updated all patches, .NET 4.5 & VSTA 2010 installed. Same problem.
CorelCAD (v1) fully supports Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). CorelCAD has been 1st released in 2011 (a while after Windows 7 was released), that's why it's not explicitely listed on that Windows 7 compatibility page. In general, recent Corel products/ versions are Windows 7 compatible.
Make sure you install the latest release which you can download from the Patches&Updates page on the Corel website.
The "CorelCAD May 2012 update" (12.4.056) is a full application installer that runs without previously installed version. If you experience installation issues with that release you should go to www.corel.com/support to contact the Customer Service / Tech Support team for warranty support.
Side note on OS compatibility: CorelCAD 2013 which has been released in December 2012 is compatible with Windows 7 and also Windows 8. It also features a 64-bit application version so it's worth testing the new version on Windows 7 64-bit.
