Hi all,
I just purchased Corel Cad 2014 so that I can make 3D models out of 2D product designs.
All I need to do is extrude the 2D vectors from my CDR file. However, when I open the file in CorelCad,
and try to extrude certain shapes, I get this error:
"Modeling operation error: Sweep created a surface with parallel u and v".
The same object will not revolve.
There seems to be no reason that some objects work and others do not; I've tried several file formats, all of them have the same issues.
Is there some way to resolve this? I need 100% of the imported objects to work.
Thank you for your help!
Dan
Hello danmhyman; I don't have CorelCad, But I would try converting the file to curves in CorelDRAW and export it it as a Ai or EPS file.

Thanks Virginia, but both of those file types are unsupported by Corel Cad.
Does anyone who has Corel Cad have any suggestions?
This software is pretty useless to me if I can't extrude simple splines.
Hi Dean,
I have CorelCAD for Mac, so I'm unable to open CDR files directly in it. But if you can attach DWG file you created from CDR file, I can try to look at it.

hey thanks Maxim, I will send. PM me your addy, this forum's email doesn't seem to allow attachments.
Hi Dan,
2 suggested workarounds for splines that do not extrude:
1) Convert to polyline using the ExplodeX command. Extrude the (closed!) polyline.
2) Try SWEEP instead of EXTRUDE command. You will need a sweep path in the desired Z (height) direction and length which you can create as a simple line before launching the SWEEP command with that spline.
