  • This can be tough sometimes.  If you start your design with the text in the dead center of the page you can you use the shortcut P to align the text back to the page center after you move it.

If the text can't be in the page center, some times you can align to another object.  With two objects selected, (note the order of selection matters,) you can use C and E shortcuts to align.  You can explore the Align and Distribute dialog for more advanced options.

Before you move the text, you could draw guidelines around the text so that after you move and make your adjustments you can use the guidelines to get to the original position.  Enabling snapping to guidelines can help.

You could create a new layer, and move the text to that layer.  Then you can hide the layer while you work on the other parts.

As vector objects can be positioned above and below other objects on a single layer, you might not have to create layers.  You could send the text to the back of the page.  Make your modifications.  Then send the top most objects to a lower level on the page, or select the text underneath, (holding alt down to dig,) and return it to a higher level on the page.

  • Wellk Michael; In most Windows ( Ctrl+Z ) is Undo. But if it's text you could copy it and edit the text you want to apply it to and use  ( CTR+ V ).
