This pic started as just the Livery ship. I wasn't too impressed with the results, so I started doing other ships of the fleet. Some came out well, others so so. But the Colonial Movers came out the best. It took me days to do this, one of the longest drawings I've done. But since it turned out so well, I used it as the focal point of the pic. The other ships are in the background and not as big. But I always recognized this ship when the show aired because it is made out of a Revell or Monogram model of the Apollo Saturn V rocket. I have the model. The cone in the front and the four protruding points are where the five engines of the second stage are mounted. Another great example of how they canabilized model kits and other items to create some great icons in sci fi.
