The technique describes a way of creating soft, feathered vector-based shapes in CorelDRAW, using one opaque and one transparent Shape, which have been blended together using the Blend Tool.

Step1.
Create two shapes and apply a transparency to one of them (in this example, an elliptical transparency has been applied to the blue shape).  This procedure requires both shapes to have an equal number of nodes, otherwise the Blend Effect will become distorted.

Step 2.
Drag the Blend Tool (Toolbox > Blend tool), from one object to the other to create the blend.

Step 3.
The Blend Tool is optimized for this task, and with the Blend Tool or a Blend Group selected, you can now map the nodes between the two Shapes.  Go to the Property Bar, select More Blend Options > Map Nodes.  In the Property bar, the Blend Objects field will allow you to increase the number of steps in the blend for an even smoother result.
