Willy's CARtoon

Haven't done much art for fun so I claim I did this for practice.

I don't do 'toons normally but wanted to give it another try.

Vector done in x3.

Feel free to critique.

Thanks for looking

  • Cool, I had no idea you were into all that. I love that kind of stuff. My dad was an old hot rodder, so I grew up around hot rods and dragsters and that whole scene. Make sure you share some pics from the Brush Off!!

  • Thanks Paul, I'm going to use this ‘toon on a panel for this years "Brush Off".

It will be hand painted and lettered and striped (haven’t figured out the design yet)

If your not familiar with this type of get together I'll give a description.

Sign Painter’s, Pinstriper's, Illustrator’s get together for a Panel Jam they bring a panel roughly 18 x 24 (any piece of custom art really any size, they even do striping on toilet seats)  lettered striped 'tooned or what have you.

The group I hang with is about 30 people some of the people are pretty well connected in the car industry or the art world in general: Steve Stanford (Illustrator) Tom Kelly from the famous trio Baron, Kelly and Roth yea Big Daddy (Lettering Striping, www.rumpsville.com/.../index.asp) Dennis Jones (Lettering Striping) Frank 'Magoo' Roberts, Original Rat Fink founder (Striping)  Dennis Ricklis from Overhauling TV (Lettering Striping) Jeff Styles Over hauling ans Rides TV, Cover of Hot Rod Magazine striping a girls leg (Striping, www.socalpinstriper.com/about.cfm) Yvonne Mecialis (Illustrator Airbrush Artist) Phill Whetstone from Wrecks to Riches TV (Lettering Striping) Willis Dormer (Lettering Striping, Here is a link to Willis' page with a couple of panels from our get together www.stripeitfine.com/.../article2.pdf) and so many others.

It's great to be a fly on the wall and listen to the stories.

There is a lot of history there

  • Hmmm....That would make a great t-shirt! Nice job Buff!
