I am using Corel Draw 12 on Windows 7 64 bit laptop. The laptop is unable to use virtual mode XP. Daily, issues are increasing using CD 12, and obviously it is getting frustrating. As to upgrades, I need to know which version, X4 or X5, has the fewest issues on Win. 7 64 bit. Thanks

Hi Barbara,
To begin with, to use Windwos XP mode you need Windows 7 PRO 64 bit. Meaning, Windows 7 PRO at least. No Windows HOME versions have XP Mode. So if you have a windows 7 HOME version, sorry but no XP mode.
In any case, going from version 12 to the newest X5 will make you happy, just see to that you download and install the SP1 from Pathes & updates at Corel´s website.
X5 works great on a Windows 7 environment. I use it daily, no issues, Especially now when SP 1 is out. I have also Beta twested X5 so I know for sure, as well as work professionally daily on tight deadlines and it works great. So just go for X5 and you will be fine. Dont go fro X4 now when X5 is out.
Thanks, guys, for the information on X5. I hesitated to upgrade, because on I loved 12 on my XP machine, initially I had no problems with 12 on Win. 7, but with each MS update, more and more problems arose. Also out on the net I had heard that there were problems with X4, X5 and Win. 7 so I was leary of investing in to either, version.
I had tried X5 early on but didn't see that it was needed. Boy, I do now. I spend more time closing out and reopening CD12 than I do working. The second try at X5 trial version was a breeze in comparison.
X5 is ordered and on its way. Thanks for your help.

There were also problems with v12, and CorelDRAW X3 works better than 12.0, X4 is better than X3 and X5 is better than X4 (except if you have a very old computer, there's no reason to use an old version)
