HI.
I am at the proverbial wits end.
After numerous attepts at installing X4- I am unable to get the program to run.
I continue to get a "Installation unsuccessful - reinstall program (error 1)" message.
I have checked FAQ and knowledge base and internet search and tried to problem solve.
After making sure the Protexis services are started, temp folders emptied, all other software including firewall and anti virus (Norton Security Suite 2009) are off, I begin reinstall, enter serial and installation completes.
After receiving a "successful installation" message and restarting the program to complete registration and what not, the splash screen comes up, my cursor "works" for one second or so, then stops (the cursor animation stops "working"). The Corel x4 Splash Screen remains for about 30 seconds, then the error message comes.
I have to say, this is really crazy makin-
Hoping for some assistance.
Thanks
Can you tell us a little information about the system that you are trying to install on? What O/S are you using, how much memory do you have (not free space on the hard disk, but RAM) and what video card do you use?
Maybe there something wrong with the installation files.
You can try using another installation file, probably one downloaded from the corel website.
You can try also to reset your workspace. (F8 on program Startup)
Also delete any files left back from the previous installation.
See if that helps.
Thanks for the replies.
Running XP sp 3
2 gb ram
Core 2 Duo( 2.0)
Seagate 7200rpm, w/ 50% remaining.
I will run Win. Update and update my .Net install. (currently V2)
Have run a search for all Corel items and searched Registry after uninstall and have cleaned all references to the product I can find.
Will try again.
Thanks for the feedback.
When you uninstall X4, you also have to go into the Windows Add/Remove (Start->Control Panel->Add Remove Programs) utility and remove the CorelDRAW X4 Windows Shell Extension. This shell is for non-Vista Windows (Win XP). You have to remove it any time you remove the Corel Graphics Suite X4 installation.
Once you have removed both, the CGS and the Shell Extension, then try a fresh installation.
Do make sure that you have your anti virus deactivated (in some cases, depending upon the anti virus manufacturer, you may have to uninstall the anti virus program). Reactivate the anti virus when Corel is completely installed and running.
