Upgrade X4 to X8 ??

I'm using X4. I've read that X8 isn't that much different, and probably not worth the upgrade, and in fact could be more buggy. Any thoughts?

I can only offer my own experiences with the versions. Lets start with X4. Crashed all the time. Upgraded to all new pc and X7. All rock solid. I have X8 at home and just upgraded to Win10 too. Seems to be rock solid as well.
Drop shadow is much improved. Now uses Gaussian Blur.
No annoying zoom pop up. You can opt to never see it again.
You do realize you couldn't upgrade to X7 from anything under X5, you actually had to buy the full version. No more though. You can now upgrade from any version!

1.) Do you ever import PDFs into Corel? About 1/2 the time, in X4, Corel thinks the PDF is "corrupted" and won't import. Has PDF import improved in X8?

2.) I get a lot of save errors, where it tells me I can't save my active work because the "file is open in another location." Seen any of that in X8?

I can definitely say, if you can afford it, go for X8!
I import PDF's into Corel many times a day, every day and recall having trouble with X4 liking that. The issue was with free fonts causing the block by Corel. I'm using X7 and haven't had any trouble at all!
Your 'file is open in another location' issue is odd because you think just selecting save would overwrite what you're using. Sorry I can't help with that one....

Pdf errors will still happen from time to time. I do import a lot of pdf's with X7. Errors are usually caused by the program it was made from. Adobe pdf's almost always give me trouble. Have to open them in Illustrator first then save back out as pdf.

No issues with "file is open in another ..."

Keep in mind there will always be a learning curve. Seems just when you get used to where a button is they move it somewhere else in the next version.
