When editing larger text field (2 or more pages) everything slows down (there is a delay for every task - very frustrating). When "all text" is selected (ctrl+a) and click on Font Menu to change the font, it is difficult to select a new font (mouse arrow doesn't light-up the new font selection) or if it does - I select the new font but nothing happens. Anybody can help? I do have serv.pack1 installed
go 'Tools-Options', 'Workspace-Text-Fonts' then turn off 'Use font to display font name'.
it would be useful to resolve such a problem.
thanks
Thank you, it helped with the font selection speed!
But over all it still has a delay on every performed task the page with the larger text areas.
How many fonts do you have installed as active?
Close to 600 (I lowered it as soon as I saw your comment :)). However, I had over 1000 fonts installed in my old Corel Draw 12 version and did not have this problem. The only thing I can think of is that the file I am working on was imported from the old 12 version into x4 and it could get imported wrong? any experience with that?
What I've found is that when using anything other than Draw and Photopaint, having a lot of fonts isn't a problem whatsoever. An even bigger problem for Corel though is the newer, fancy, distressed style fonts. Those absolutely bring Corel Draw and Photopaint to their knees. Also Font Navigator by the way, has trouble previewing these fonts. I currently have 1600 fontst installed, most of them fancy fonts and I have absolutely no problem whatsoever previewing these fonts in Illustrator and Photoshop CS2, and CS3. They preview directly in the font list just like Draw, but there's simply no problem. In Corel, I take the text tool, type a word, then click the font list and Corel freezes for a very long time before getting the font list to show a single font. Then it sputters, vanishes, and jerks it's way painfully through the list as I attempt to scroll down the list. The computer itself is also suffering during this time. If I navigate away from Draw/Paint while it's choking on fonts, the rest of the computer is also choking. I have a Quadcore 2.4 ghz machine with 3 Gigs of ram, well above any Corel stated specs. This can be avoided in Corel by disabling the font previewing, but that makes Corel Draw useless for looking at fonts.
I uploaded a short video (WMV) of one of the major problems I am having with the text formating feature. Any constructive comments welcomed :)

hi,
I was able to change here, if I was fast. :-D
But, better way for the moment is to change with story editor;
CTRL + SHiFT+T
then
CTRL+HOME
CTRL + SHiFT+END
this selects all text.
change your font now
then leave the editor.
This method updates all text - even in linked frames. Maybe the workaround you need for the moment.

Tank You Jeff;
That helped!..... that way it seems to work just fine! I could even turn back on the "Show flyout with font sample beside font list" out of the Workspace/Text/Fonts menu and it works fast.
Good tip. thanks again.
