I use a template for all my drawings that includes a page number in the lower right hand corner (usually says "Page 1 of 4" for example). I usually edit this number manually, which is fine for documents with a small amount of pages, but if I'm working on a large document (50+ pages) and need to re-order some pages it means editing the page number on every page manually.
Is there some way of having the number in a piece of artistic text dynamically update depending on what page number it's on?
I have programed a macro & have already used it for a 1.2K book in CorelDRAW. You also can try it & send in your feedback.

Thanks Anand, I gave it a quick try but it doesn't seem to do exactly what I'm looking for.
I created some artistic text on page 1 and then applied your utility to the text. This changes the text to '1'. Now when I copy and paste this artistic text onto page 2, it stays as '1' instead of updating to '2', which is what I'm looking for.
Hi Os,
Os said:there is also a builtin CorelDRAW macro for page numbering: menu Tools->VisualBasic->Play/Run->Page numbering
The built in utility in CorelDRAW starts the page numbering with '1' No to Page 1 in every file. I have developed this utility for my use on a 1.2K pages book split into several files with different chapters in each file. I needed page numbers starting from say 1 to 50 in the file that I have with first few chapters. The subsequent files hold my further chapters & I need to start numbering for second file that contains my book pages from 51 to 67.
Built in utility does not allow me to start page numbering from the number that I desire.
Hi Anand,
I'm also working on a large document of more than a 1000 pages, spread over 30 files. I need the page number to start at specific numbers in each file - as it is in your case - but the macro that you provided is only 1K and does not appear in Corel despite having pasted it in the GMS file.
Could you please provide your macro again ? I desperately need it.
Thanks
Euphorik
I tried the macro Anand provided and it works great in X3. For some reason the macro menu is grayed out in X4. Why the heck would that be?
Page number need to be sorted. They should be driven by smart tags on master pages.
Remember here that master pages were only resolved in X4 therefore I think it is reasonable to have an expectation that 'mater items' like page numbers are to be resolved in X5. Perhaps sooner if someone wrote a macro that made correct use of master pages.
What brings items 'up the list' for the up coming X5 is significent comment by the community. I'd suggest that no one indicate 'satisfaction' with the current approach which place a number on the actual page and that we push for master items. Something that could be accellerated by Corel releasing some sample macro code of what such an approach would look like.
I've said my peice on it... additional requests are the best method to push to get this sorted.
Hi twodaytshirs!
could you please tell me where to find the famous macro?
probably at http://www.macromonster.com

sorting out master pages would be a big boon! That & some colour issues are the only reasons I occasionally open InDesign... the ability to set master page items & then over-ride on specific pages is great, as is being able to add auto page numbers (which can then be removed as desired on particular pages) etc.
Anand, I'm going to try out your script, thanks
