CorelDRAW X4 can't open files

can't open files

Hello ... PLEASE help URGENTLY ... I have issues opening old files (created in January 2011) although I am still using the version X4 in which these files were created.
(msg: "Corel Draw has stopped working" ... "close program"). I have re-installed the program from my original Corel cd and have also updated with patches Corel-X4-service-pack-2-CGSX4SP2 and Corel-XP4_patch1_CGSX4SP1. I have also tried the 'import' option. Unfortunately I cannot currently afford to buy the latest CorelDraw version. Thank you. Tina

Hi, Just to rule out a possible OS question: are you using windows X7 or Windows 7? If you are using Windows 8 then that won't work. So which Windows do have

Thank you ... HP Pavilion PC, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Because of your question, I remembered that I did in fact create the relevant files on a different laptop with Windows Vista. I went through the trouble shooting steps in my control panel's action centre for program compatibility, but the problem was not fixed.

try this: press and hold F8 key, then run coreldraw - a pop up should appear asking if you want to set coreldraw to the factory defaults. That can clear out some cobwebs.
