I am currently trying out X4 while I decide whether to upgrade from V12 (which ive been very happy with and use on a daily basis). My main reason for upgrade would be for full compatibility with Vista.
Just doing some work on it at the mo and am adding a Drop Shadow preset of Small Glow and notice that the default colour is Red (C 0,M 100,Y 100,K 0). For my use, i normally set this to a Pantone Black. Is there any way to default this preset to a Black? Or am I best to create a new preset?
Other than that, it runs nicely.
Thanks guys :)
You could overwrite the preset (pst file) or create a new one. Dropshadows of composite black like C85M73Y73K76 are better that C0M0Y0K100 for full color designs.

Thanks Michael,
I didnt realise that I could overwrite the original preset. Generally, I use Process Black for anything that I produce in corel that is intended for print.

In X4, you don't need to use a composite black or pantone black, because now the Drop Shadow is a rectangle with transparency in Multiply mode (in CorelDRAW v12 was a bitmap). The C0M0Y0K100 color works fine
Thanks Ariel.... just having a play with X4..... impressed with it so far.
Bevel and fillet/scallop are fun..... see what im missing out on over here in V12 land lol
Ariel is right, multiply mode is the best way since plates are created with additional darkness in the most optimal way.
We can all agree that up to and including v. 12, the default live shadow of 100% on the K plate looked dreadful over colored artwork.
During that era, I used to assign a live multicolor black, which provided much better results. But the best of all is a shadow in multiply mode IMO.
Try printing a test file like the attached over a multicolor background on a color Postscript Printer and decide... :-)
