I have CDGSX4. I've been trying to edit some of my Canon Raw (CR2) files. However I get this purplish haze covering my images I think it has to do with the Raw File driver. I've noticed this with PSPX4 and also the trial version of CDGSX6.Is there a way to correct this behavior?
The image is from a Canon T4i (650).
The 650 is rather a new camera and X4 is probably 4 or 5 years old, so it is fairly likely that it would not be supported. I can't even remember whether X4 supported the 600D, which is my camera. But I think it probably did not support that either.
What I did find was that aftershot pro supported it (600D that is) and for my purposes did what I wanted so much faster and easier -- to the extent that although X6 supports CR2 from 600D, I cannot ever remember using it for that purpose.
So, I'd suggest downloading a trial copy of aftershot pro at http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4670071&cid=catalog3550067&segid=6000006 and see whether that works for you too.
Ok, I'll give ASP a look. I'm not sure what all ASP is capable of. For the majority of my PP, I use LR5, but need to use a program like Photo Paint for some more detailed work.
What surprised me most is the latest version, CorelDraw Graphics Suite X6 has the same issue. I was considering upgrading until that happened.
Looking at http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1245146 I get the impression that it might be microsoft, not Corel, that needs to fix the problem by issuing an updated codec.
I'm not sure if that is really true, because according to http://www.photographybay.com/2013/07/18/corel-aftershot-pro-update-adds-raw-support-for-37-new-cameras/ the support for 650D (and 700D) is already in aftershot pro -- so presumably either MS has released the codec, or it uses a different method.
Incidentally, aftershot will do many things of a photo finishing nature, including colour balance, contrast and even the digital equivalent of shading and dodging. Even better, it is all done non-destructively so you can reduce the contrast you increased yesterday, without progressive degradation. But it is not a bitmap editor -- so if you want to do "painting" type operations you will probably need to link it to photopaint.
I did download ASP and did not like it. It does not have the ability for retouching photos like removing stray hair, skin smoothing, ect. I do the majority of my photo work in PS LR 5.
I disagree with this being a MicroSoft problem. If that was the case, the trial version of PSP X6, PSE 12 would not recognize and allow editing of my CR2 files.
I was having the same problem with CR2 file. I found a solution that worked for me in photopaint X5. With the image open all I did was go to the menu bar and select adjust and then select auto adjust. The image turned from the pink color to the color photo. I am no expert on why this worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you.
