CorelDraw X5 home&student crashes everytime I try to make a vector out of a monochrome (black&wite) bitmap drawing. It happens with all resolutions and jpg or bmp.
I have installed the program on another pc to check, the same result. My pc is functioning perfect furthermore (Windows XP sp3; Core2duo 2.2 GHz; 3GB RAM). My only solution yet is first to convert to grayscale or duotone.
Anyone suggestions ?
Hello Anthonie,
It wotks fine at my end. No crashes here.
Can you try after a workspace reset?
To reset the workspace to factory defaults, start Coreldraw while holding F8 key.
You will be prompted to confirm if you want to reset. Click Yes. After doing this, you will loose any customization you have done to toolbars, keyboard shortcuts etc.
Backup your workspace first if you have customized your workspace.
Hello Patrik,
Thanks for your suggestion, I tried. Unfortunately it stays the same after te workspace reset.
Powertrace begins to calculate the example immediately, but stops near the end of the progressionbar . Then the whole program hangs. It happens with all trace methods (quick, centerline, outline) on monochrome bitmaps.
Anyone more suggestions ?

Have you installed CorelDRAW Service Pack 2?
If not, then you can download from the link given below.
Service Pack 2
Thanks for your suggestion again.
I own the home&student verion of X5. The sp2 update site says:
NOTE: This update is not for CorelDRAW Home & Student Suite X5.
I contacted Corel (Netherlands) but the answer is: there is no free support for your version; try to resolve your problem in the forum or knowledgebase...
Hi,
Although we have not finalized a release date, our next service pack will work with Home & Student Suite X5.
Thanks,
John
