I am designing a logo of the sun rising over the earth from the perspective of earth orbit. The general look will be of the sun(looks like a star) illuminating a narrow crescent of the earth. I am working on a picture, trying to adapt it for the logo. I need to change the white sunlight to be yellow/red - can't seem to isolate the colors from the mix of earth colors or black background colors they mix with. Another thing I need is to use a white background instead of the black background of the picture taken from space. Is there a way to convert all the colors that are a mix of the black background and something else to be changed to be as if the background was white?
Any help is appreciated.
Chris
Have you tried to replace the color(s)? Menu:Adjust->Replace Colors.

Yes. I can replace one color at a time. The trick comes when in general there is a mixing of colors, for example, the sunlight rays start out white but there is a gradient from that to total black the way it is now. this makes the majority of pixels some color other than white. What would help is if there is some way not just to replace one exact color, but to replace that color (black being the color of space, for example) and its contribution to the color combination of pixels in a gradient with another color. That is to say, the black of space being replaced by white, for example, or the white contribution of the sun ray being replaced by yellow. Having a sun ray with a gradient of yellow to white is what I am looking for, as compared to the gradient of white to black that is currently in the image.
Thanks,

hi all, I don't use PP's color replacer anymore. I use this free plugin: Much more options and control.
don't judge it by what you see on the product page.
fuzziness, chroma, luma.. these are the missing features in Corel's color replacer. This allows you to replace shades of a color also.
