What won't objects move between layers?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I can't move objects between layers using the Object Manager. After selecting the object I want to move then choosing "Move to Layer..." from the flyout window my curser changes to the Don't symbol (red circle with line through it) and I can't navigate through the docker to select any other layer. All layers are editable. Can anyone help?

Didn't know that option existed, I just drag and drop it to whatever layer. You're selecting the object then hitting the little triangle in Object Manger and choosing move to layer?

Yes, that's what I'm doing. I find it logical to just drag and drop too, however the lines do not scroll when I reach the top or the bottom of the window. I can drop the object near the top of the window then scroll one window's length then drag and drop a short distance again. I have so far to go that that method is not practical. I suspect whatever the reason I can't select "Move to Layer..." is the same reason I can't scroll through the window.

Not a fix by any means but could be a one click macro. Just activate which layer you want to move your objects to then hit the macro.

ActiveSelection.MoveTolayer ActiveDocument.ActiveLayer
