CorelDRAW X5 .cdr file type missing from Open and Import window

.cdr file type missing from Open and Import window

I have Corel X5. If I double click a .cdr file from the windows file browser (not from within Corel Draw) it opens the file in CorelDRAW.

But if I launch CorelDRAW and try to open the file I can not select the file because the list of file extensions in the Open dialog does not include .CDR so I can't even see the file because I can't select the .cdr extension.

Tools > Customization > Global > Filters.
Under "vector" on the left pane, find the crd extension, select it and click "Add"

Hello Steve; You can use Ctrl+c To copy it to the clipboard, and then go to draw and use CtrlV to paste it...... then make sure you save your work with a new file name.

to see the file extensions

Click the Start menu. ...
Type "folder options" (without the quotes). ...
A dialog box with the title "Folder Options" will appear. ...
Under the viwew tab click to uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Another thing you can do is select "All file types" and type *.cdr at the File Name bar and press enter; that way you'll be able to see the cdr files
