I do beer signs for a living. Sometimes I like to import other coreldraw files into my current work to take designs off of them, such as a curve or a portion of text. I then delete the unused parts. The problem is that whenever I do this, it makes the save file huge!
You can test this. Open an empty coreldraw file. Drag a few .cdr's into it. Delete everything you imported. Save the empty file. It will be the size of all those .cdr's combined!
Is this a bug or something I can fix?
Hello Shadowing; A man after my own hart. ( BEER ) I don't know why you are having that problem, BUT you can try grouping what you want to save and using the "Save As" and and select the"Selected only.
You may still have styles or color styles being in the 'blank' cdr file.

Doing that works. Not as easy as ctrl-s. Can you guys reproduce this? Each service pack I hope it gets fixed but it doesn't.
In reply to Hugh Johnson:
I don't use styles or color styles.

You can put a icon on the menu to go to Save As, and I'd think there is a macro to do it in one click.
Using a macro to save as-selected only would be fantastic. It would ensure minimum file sizes. I still would like to know if you guys can reproduce the issue, it does it every single time.
Can you guys reproduce this?

I cannot reproduce this. Could you upload file for check.
I only a saw a few K of change in the way I saved a file. Like Mek said how about post a file.
Try it importing big .cdr files, over 50MB. I think it has to do with that. Uploading file now, will be a minute.
If you have a zip you can use that, a 50 mb file maybe to large for emailing, but if you like you cat try emailing it to me.

In reply to Mek:
Hrm, it only seems to happen with big files. This is a file with a big arial S in the middle of the page, nothing else. Original file size 400KB. I imported a large poster (60MB), then deleted it and saved it again. The file is now 38.5MB, but is only just a big S in the middle of the page. I uploaded the file to our distributor website since it's 38MB: http://www.comerdistributing.com/files/bigS.zip (I renamed the .cdr to .zip so that the webserver would serve it)
It looks like the font you used for the "S" is larger than that font wants to go, the letter by it self is 38.4 mb. at 26.39" tall and converting it to curves didn't help much. A lot of font don't liked to be used outside of what they were made for and the Open Face Arial you used l think is that way.I don't use the Open Face, they seem to do dum things sometimes, I stick with the TTF fonts.
Nope. the file originally was 400kb, with the big S as is.
Select the S, do a save-as selected only. The file will be very small
