X5 Deleting Arial Fonts

Casual CorelDraw user. Currently using X5, 64 bit and Win 7. Yesterday, while opening an older cdr file ( I believe from version 10 ) I’ve got a message ( warning ) that I do not have fonts installed used in this file and they have to be substituted. Mentioned fonts are default windows Arial fonts. Quickly I realized that X5 not only warned about missing fonts. In fact it deleted them from my windows font folder. 4 Arial types were gone, affecting not only my drawings but many other programs on my computer.

I reinstalled missing fonts. Removed X5 from HD, downloaded the latest X5 version, I believe containing Sp3. No help. Now every time I open CorelDraw I loose after mentioned Arial fonts.

Can anyone help me out solve this problem. I’ve been using X5 for the past few months and used to open older files several times without such problems ever occurring. Thanks

I believe that the default Arial font for Windows 7 - 64 bit is "Arial Unicode MS Regular".

I ran into pretty much the same thing. I thought I accidently deleted my (regular) Arial fonts. I did copy them over from another Windows 7 - 32 bit machine onto the Win 7 - 64 bit and I was good, then.

I also believe that my Win 7 - 64 lost the Arial fonts during an update, but I am not certain.....

Well, my machine came with 9 different Arial fonts, plus Arial Rounded MT Bold and Arial Unicode MS Regular. But only the set of 9 “ regular “ Arial is being affected by X5. Basically every time I open an older file I loose 5 fonts. It does not happen when I create new file though.

When it happened first time I just run system restore and got my fonts back. Than, expecting this problem occurring again I just copied widow’s font folder to another location and now I can quickly restore missing fonts. It’s a quick patch but I’d rather see proper solution to this problem.

The ariel font was replaced when win7 updated to service pack 1

Arial, not Ariel

CorelDRAW doesn't delete the Arial font (I use it all the time on different computers, under Windows 7 and XP), but perhaps you have a conflict between versions of the same font

I agree. There is some kind of conflict. Which btw arisen just recently. last month I was using X5 with new and old files and had no such headaches. My main tools are 3d CAD software. Corel X5 is something I use sporadically.
