I've used CorelDraw since version 1.0 and now I'm using X3. Finally I got X5, but at my disappointment I get problems with the installation. I've now tried many times in many ways, but the installation stop asking for a SETUP.MSI.... The only relevant SETUP.MSI I can find, is the .MSI-file on the installation CD, but when I'm telling the installation procedure to use that file, it really don't work.
And yes, I've turned off my antivirus and went into ADMIN mode in Wode in Windows, but I get the same result. I've also downloaded a trial version and tried to install CorelDraw that way. Then I get an error message about that there is an earlier version on the computer.
I've wasted many hours, and I'm still trying hard. But I hope someone here can help.
I'm using Windows XP Pro SP 3.
What I suspect is that your last un-installation of CorelDraw was made correctly. Maybe there are still some system files that have not been removed.
SetUp.MSI is a windows installer file. The common cause of this error is when a program has not been installed or uninstalled correctly.
You could either make use of third party software to un install CorelDraw and do a fresh installation.

A little addition to my question. I've not uninstalled my working X3. Should I do that before going to the next step??? Thanks in advance for helping.
Hello nowegicus; You shouldn't have to uninstall X3 to load the X5. If you are sure you have a good copy of Corel why not give Corel a Call.

No if you haven't un installed X3 and if that is running fine, then let it be. When you install CD X5, you will have both X3 and X5 on your system. I assumed that you did try and uninstall your last version.
Well as SignGuy has pointed out, if you have a legit copy then go ahead and give Corel people a call.
But before you do that just try and install the CD X5 you have with you on another machine? Does it run?
What I assume is that your installer files may be corrupt for this version of X5.
First of all, I have a legal copy of CorelDraw Home & Student suite.
Second, it works fine when I installed it on another computer with Windows 7 and Norton AntiVirus still active.. But I have to use the computer with XP in this case, so I'm still "lost" in the SETUP.MSI problem.
Maybe I have to send a request for support at Corel.com.
Thanks for trying to help me.
