Dimensions - Problems with arrows created by the dimension tool

When I set dimensions, the direction of the arrows seems to change sometimes, with no input from me. How can I stop this or how can I set arrow directions myself? None of the settings I found so far seem to do anything about arrow direction.

with nothing selected click on the dimension tool and also have the object properties docker open. click on the dimension icon on the properties docker. Set all your desired preferences both in the docker and on the toolbar(arrow) then go tools/save settings as default

Thanks, but I already knew most of this, except for that last part. I couldn't find a menu called "tools", but apparently saving the document at least saves the settings for that document, so I can make a template for later.

But my problem still isn't solved: When making dimensions, sometimes the direction of the arrow-heads just switches around and I have no explanation for this. For example, if I want the arrow-heads to show away from the text and to stay inside the border lines of the dimension, sometimes I get one with the arrow-heads showing towards the text from outward the border lines instead.

can you post a screenshot here as I find it impossible to reverse the arrows. Also check here.

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to give a definitive ending to this thread, so future searchers don't get frustrated when ending up here:

Shortly after Myron's last response, our company upgraded to X7 and this issue never showed up again. I guess the solution was "don't use X6", ha ha
