I recently downloaded this font from My fonts as the regular is free to try it out but the Open type features do not seem to work. I was wondering if there is something I could do for it to make them function?
thanks
Hi Greg,
Yeah, they do change. But like I said, it can be subtle. As for the buttons, they appear disabled but are not. That is because of the language declarations I mentioned. CD only looks for the latn declaration and when the only one is DFLT (default) in the code it isn't activating the buttons as regards them reporting the features.
In the screen shot, the first section is by highlighting the numbers and selecting the Old Style numbering. Even though the button appears disabled, it isn't.
In the second set, I have highlighted some of the characters that change when the whole text string I used was selected, then the Swash button depressed.
Changes in a "basic" OpenType sans serif font can be fairly subtle. A serif font typically has more differences in appearance, especially swash characters. I wouldn't have written the OT Features file like Insigne did. I would have handled the features differently.
I had hoped that this last update would have rectified this issue. It's been known for quite some time. But at least it works.
