Random Corruption of File, Seems .PSD related

Was working on some bitmaps, the file was newly made. Imported some bitmaps from photoshop and I know that photoshop likes to run its own process to even load some .psd's into CorelDRAW. Long story short, it magically crapped itself when I was away from the computer doing other things. The powerclipped .psd had disappeared and moving the powerclip resulted in this message box. Fortunately I re-saved the latest work as a new file instead of over the original before closing as it corrupted the whole file.

But why? Can anyone provide input to how I might never let this happen again? And can anyone enlighten me as to why the message box is referencing files on D: drive which is my DVD drive and it's empty...
