Hi everyoneNot even a brick of Semtex will remove the 'invisible' rectangle background of a TIFF bitmap. (I'd like to remove the middle bit as well, and assume the solution will work for any area ...)
I've googled and searched but nothing suggested seems to work for me. For starters, no matter how I much I beg, I can't persuade the magic wand in Paint to make those mask ants. Any simple suggestions for the simple-minded - that being me?ThanksMulberi
In photopaint X6 (which has its own forum) go to the mask menu, turn off mask overlay and turn on marquee visible. Now the magic wand tool should be able to select an area of similar colour.
Questions?

I use another bitmap editor most of the time. But in PP, you can simply use Mask | Color Mask and use the eye dropper to select the white portion. at the bottom a setting of two works for a bitmap such as this. Click OK. From the mask menu, select invert. Copy, paste as new object.
Create a new Object layer and make it below the object layer with your sample.
Remove Mask.
Fill the middle layer with the color of choice.
But do know that often as nice of design is available on the net as vector. Used in CD it will always be nicer.
