Ping Mr. Corel on CPT thumbnails

Hi Mr. Corel,
   CPT thumbnails in Windows Explorer disappeared when I installed CDGS X7. I was forced to uninstall X7 and go back to X6.
   This has been a chronic problem for myself and a few other people. None of the posted suggestions worked.  Neither are there any third party applications like Mystic Thumbs which create CPT thumbnails for Windows Explorer.
    Do you have any fixes or suggestions. I would like to move on to X7.

Install X7, again. If the thumbnails do not show up, then using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics suite X7\Setup\CGS17\ and execute the 'ShellEXT.msi' file.

That should install and set the Windows Shell Extension for the CGS X7 Suite. You may have to reboot, after you run the ShellEXT.msi to finish setting everything up correctly (actually to bring the new Shell Extension into Windows Operating Memory.)

Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Myself and a few other people have had constant problems with Corel's shell extension. It's probably our computers since most people have no problem with it. I wish that Corel would take a look at it.
In the meantime, I uninstalled the X7 extension and installed the old X6 extension. Strangely, it works for both X7 CPT files and CDR files.

Try this if it helps...

Right click on any .cpt file, select Open with... then choose default program. In the program list, select PHOTO-PAINT X7 and hit OK.
