I created this image with "twirl" technique, but want each of the three "ends" to be rounded. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? Thanks.
Open the Object Properties docker (or the Outline Pen properties) and change the outline cap to rounded.
TIP: Shortcut to Object properties is Alt+Enter. Shortcut to Outline Pen properties is F12.

I'm not sure about the "easiest" way, but here's one thing you could try. Use Weld or Combine to make your three outline curls one object. With the new object selected, use Convert Outline to Object. Now the center can be adjusted to the look you want. To do this, first make sure you have Snap to Objects toggled on so that the inner tips snap to each other. Note that when you do this the objects are now "shapes" not outlines, so the properties will change accordingly.
BTW, there's nothing wrong with using the Calligraphy pen to make your curl, I'm sure you could get some cool effects with the Curl tool. On the down side...it might make it more difficult to join in the center if that is your end goal. If you want the curls to be identical, make one and then copy and rotate 120° to get the other two.
Being that I can't see how you created the objects, it's hard for me to tell you where things might have gone wrong.
