RTS stylus support for tablets

I've been using CorelDraw since version 7. I know how to use the mouse. The particular workflow I would like to employ for future projects requires pressure sensitivity direct from the stylus. I already know I can get this functionality from Illustrator using the blob brush.

That decision makes it so that only premium members are capable of using the latest hardware. This is exactly the type of "hostage" scenario that people accused Adobe of attempting to do. That turned out not to be the case since Adobe took the "all or nothing" route when it came to subscription services. This strategy only limits CorelDraw's appeal to to the very people they are trying to sway from Adobe (ie: people who don't want to feel they have no choice but to subscribe).

All that being said, I still really like Corel software and I think it deserves a place on modern hardware. Corel really needs to be thinking about more ways to bring other people to that same conclusion. Modern hardware needs to be supported by default.

Corel is actually taking themselves out of the race to become the dominate tablet design software as Adobe has mad some key usability missteps. The new Surface 3 may be an excellent platform for CorelDraw. Corel's Smart Drawing tool seems made for tablets and performing strong on the new Surface 3 would make this a stand out app on a device that may just be a hit. There is actually an opportunity for Corel to seize here and they are mishandling it big time by making it a premium only feature to support emerging technologies. At the very least, this would be a good time to have a subscription sale on the website.

Not keeping up with the times is the standard way that companies fail.

I have an HP Spectre X360 15.6" screen, it has touch screen, the Real Time Stylus support works very well. In order to sense my stylus, have to turn it on but first by drawing with it, then Corel PhotoPaint senses it beautifully. The computer is sensing it from use and the drivers are available when you are using the stylus. I've had no issues with it and frankly, I really didn't need to but the Wacom as the HP Stylus since HP did the update on the drivers, is most satisfactory in all regards. I can actually use either pen if I want to but the Wacom does not work any better for being an Intuos than the HP pen. I actually have outstanding line work with the HP Active Pen.

As far as using tilt with an airbrush, it is a Wacom feature, but have to tell you where it would work is probably in Photoshop in which there is so much lag using either the Wacom or the HP Active Stylus, not really worth using. If I needed a splatter effect, I would import one.

When we considered the difference in cost to use the Surface Pro and the features of the HP, I could afford the programs I needed to purchase at the time. In between the time of the reviews of the HP Active Stylus were miserable. I did not buy it at first, I wish I had as HP had just fixed the driver issue and I didn't know it. I think often times you get people who are new to the whole thing and don't know where to go to configure pen settings. One still needs to do that. If you do the configurations, there is absolutely no problem with this laptop whatsoever.

At first I did have some problems with CorelDRAW, the longer I am using it on this PC, I have set my auto saves to 5 minutes and am finding that anytime I do get a lag, I save right then, and the video graphics driver recovers and resets.

With Corel being able to open, work on files which are 350MB and to export them to .pdf, it is outstanding. Before I was running Parallels Deskop on my Mac Tower using XP. It was a challenge to get used to the laptop, that beings said, I think I have weathered the adjustment nerves and am getting more accomplished with less frustration.

Corel has given me outstanding support and advice. Very thankful for all the help and for the fine product Corel has made.
