Hi Mark,
-- MAKE A BACK UP COPY --
In general, you must lose quality when creating an image for the web.
As an example:
1. My camera delivers photos at 4,000 x 3,000 pixels
2 Most people have monitors of about 2,000 x 1000 pixels
3. Let's say that I want the image on the monitor to be about one third of its height -- about 300 pixels high
4. That calls for a ten to one reduction in size.
-- GOOD BYE QUALITY --
Phil

if the file size is too big (due, for example, for having several images) you can change the file compression from ZIP or LZW (as default) to JPG inside the Publish to PDF / settimgs under the "objects" tab. If you use less compression, you didn't experience big damage of the image, but if you use too much file compression it will affect the quality of the image. Since it's for web and not for print, the JPG file compression will not a problem. Also, you don't need to use "300 dpi" output for web, 150 dpi will be enough
